Why are we so passionate about spay and neuter?

Because the root of animal homelessness is overpopulation, and the only answer to this is… creating spay/neuter solutions. Currently, Saving Gizmo’s Friends is actively holding monthly sterilization clinics in central Mexico through our partner The MexiMutt Project.

Since September 2020, through our partnership with The MexiMutt Project, we have been able to sterilize over 2,367 animals in the Chapala Lakeside area - (Mezcala, La Cuesta, San Juan Tecomatlan, San Nicolas, Santa Cruz, Hacienda de La Labor and Chapala) and  Ixtlahuacán (Ixtlahuacan, Cedros, Buenavista, Santa Rosa, Huerta Vieja, Sabinos, Puerta del Sol, etc) and El Salto (a suburb of Guadalajara).

Stray animals are born into a life of misery. In their very short lives, they are left to fend themselves with many dying due to hunger, illness and abuse.

The authorities systematically capture dogs, dumping them in forests, leaving them to die of starvation.

We need to deal with the root cause of this issue and reduce the number of uncontrolled birth of puppies, thus reducing their numbers to a healthy baseline, so that they can maintain a long-term sustainable population.  The answer is spay and neuter!

Puppies Stop at Meridian Enroute to Adoption

Last week, a plane with some very special passengers onboard landed at Meridian Teterboro. If you like puppies (and really, who doesn’t like puppies?), then you would have been in for a big treat if you were here at our FBO. A charter flight filled with crates of puppies of all breeds landed at our facility from California. The trip was organized by “Saving Gizmo’s Friends”, a dog rescue foundation that takes dogs from the kill shelters in Los Angeles, and transports them to humane societies, rescue shelters, and non-kill shelters in other cities.
